Improving UI and UX with the Drinxfactory App

The Drinxfactory app serves as a central hub for all Drinxfactory staff members. Its primary purpose is to allow employees to view and complete their upcoming shifts, as well as apply for available shifts.

Project Overview

In early 2024, Drinxfactory launched their innovative new merchandising and sampling app. Although the app was groundbreaking at the time, the team and I saw opportunities to enhance the user interface and overall user experience, while also exploring ways to improve its overall functionality. Over a three-month period, I worked with the team at Drinxfactory and led the design for their new and improved app. This project encompassed all stages of the design process and concluded with me pitching my findings and presenting the my enhanced version of enhanced Drinxfactory app.

Aims

To identify opportunities for enhancing the UI and UX of the Drinxfactory app and to explore possibilities for improved functionality. The goal was not only to improve the user experience but also to understand the company's needs and enhance operational efficiency.

Key Insights

  • Poor Navigation- Almost all employees I interviewed mentioned the poor navigation of the current system, often stating that the layout is confusing. First-time users struggled to locate certain features.

  • Overload of Unnecessary Information- Interviewees noted an abundance of unused features and information, with new users often asking, "What's this? Is that important?" These extra features distracted users from completing their tasks.

  • Difficulty Locating Your Shifts- Users found it hard to differentiate their merchandising shifts, as the app only displayed a list of stores and dates without clear separation. When applying for shifts, many users struggled to find and distinguish sampling job offerings, noting that details about the product, time, and location were unclear.
